First, this groomer is powerful enough to get the job done. My husband trimmed some substantial (salt and pepper might I add) nose hair with nary a wince. Please do not try to use rechargeable batteries, however, unless you want to endure some pulling (the trimmer actually stopped on one occasion with the rechargeable batteries – yuck!). The blades will not rotate fast enough for those tough nasal hairs without an alkaline battery. Eyebrows were easily mastered as well. Even trimming around the goatee was easily done. Cleaning the trimmer was easy too. It can be disassembled or ran under water for the cleaning process.
Other nice points: it has a cap for the cutting end and the battery is purported to last about a million years (really only two or three). In addition, it is fairly quiet. This is a nice feature for something one wants to stuff into their ears. The only reported drawback was a bit of a bite when pressing against his lips but holding it at a slight angle relieved this problem. All in all, a nice tool for taming a balding Wookie – and much cheaper than a light saber.

– very easy to set up – requires a AA battery (not included) – washable – operates at an acceptable noise level (low humming sound) – gets rid of hair with no pull or tuck feeling
I used this for my nose and ears and it worked great. The rounded cap on top has a blade on the inside, the blade is placed slightly lower than the tip of the cap. This helps avoid any skin tucks, making it completely safe to use. There is a small opening in the top cap that can be exposed by rotating the head of the trimmer. The opening here is what makes the trimmer washable, it lets water in to wash the blade and also drains it out.
Haven’t tried other trimmers so I can’t really compare but this one worked just fine and I’m sticking to it.

I was shocked to see the bad and mixed reviews on the other Panasonic trimmers. So, I went on Panasonic’s site and looked at all the models. This one looks like a response to all of the negative reviews. I took a chance because there were no reviews about it on Amazon. Well, turns out it works GREAT. Very quiet and trims great. I was worried that it would be too large (as the photo appears), but it is actually small (the right size).

You can use it like any other shaver and clean it with a brush. But if you don’t mind paying ~$60/year on these refills, then the cleaning system works great. I hope eventually someone decides to make generic versions of the refills or sells the fluid only so we can refill them (like they do with inkjet printer cartridges). I would NOT take the advice of the guy who recommended using alcohol and lemon juice as a refilling liquid. Lemon has sugar (and other impurities) in it, and alcohol doesn’t have lubricating agents and may strip the lubricating that the blades need.
Cleaning every other day may seem like a money-saving idea, but I have found that even if you don’t use it for weeks, the cleaning fluid still evaporates and you have to replace it almost as frequently, so I figure I might as well get the benefit of cleaning rather than let the stuff just evaporate away.
I hope Amazon starts selling these things directly since buying it from J&R is not a good deal because of the shipping charges. Instead, go to Walgreens or some other store that sells the shaver system, and buy it there. BestBuy.com sells it for the same price with free shipping. J&R’s prices are regular street prices (not 50% off).

It’s the closest shave I’ve ever had without cutting myself, and that includes the new triple blades. But those refills are pricey. Another Amazon review gave me a clue as to how to make each cartridge last six months. Here’s how: Clean your razor once a week instead of every day. Between cleans, remove the cartridge from the cleaning machine and reseal the cartridge with the original plastic tab. No more evaporation problem. I’ve been very happy with the results.

By James Barnett I typically use the cleaning solution twice a week; once on a Monday after a ‘heavy shave’ (I can’t be bothered shaving at the weekend!) and once at the end of the week. Anything more than that is unecessary, I find.
But when you do use it – oooh that next shave feels so good and smells fresh. It’s like using a new shaver. So why don’t I use it every day? I don’t think its worth the money – these things aren’t cheap and, rather disappointingly, I’m not a millionaire, so having the ‘new shaver’ feel every day isn’t justified.
And another tip: if you can be bothered, you can remove the solution after each use and re-plug it to avoid evaporation of the solution – which makes it last even longer. But that’s all a bit too much effort for me…!
So, Braun – stop charging so much for a simple alcohol solution and design the cleaner to automatically ‘plug’ the solution when its not in use to prevent evaporation, and you’ll earn that last star!

Everyday Use Experience:
As I’ve said I used this trimmer right away on my goatee and was very impressed. It didn’t catch any of my hairs once and that’s very important to me! The guard was larger than I expected but works great, and that’s all that matters. The trimmer comes with a small tube of oil and a hairbrush, which I thought was helpful. I also was impressed that it was washable, however, the brush thus far has been adequate. Especially since it’s no problem to remove the guard. After just a few passes with the trimmer, my goatee looked great. That is a good thing about having such a large guard, you only need to go over your beard a few times.
Then I used it on my son’s head. His hair was growing over his ears and my wife was at work. So I sat him in the bathtub, turned the dial to a 5 and began… Then I left my wife a message telling her what I’d done. She came home, and the first words out of her mouth was, “What have you done???” However, I thought it went great. Granted his head was all one length, and maybe a little shorter than I was expecting… But besides all that, the trimmer itself worked flawlessly! I was able to trim his hair and again no snags or pulling. He was quite content to let me use it on him as it is a rather quiet trimmer anyways. I have not used the trimmer on my own head because I’m not that daring.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a great facial hair trimmer or any other body part trimmer for that matter, then I highly recommend you buy this trimmer. Again, I have not used it on my own head, so I can only attest that the trimmer works great on my son’s head, but don’t ask my wife… However, that had nothing to do with the trimmer itself, just my ability to use it and choose the correct length, but that’s a different story.
